Fahrenheit 451 –The Social Networks that burns the books!

Just finished reading “Fahrenheit 451″ ( Ray Bradbury).Read it as a teenage at age 16, but then someone in my office gave it to me and i read it all over again.this time i have insight’s

For the plot summary you can read the book or look at wikipedia.in this post i want to mention one spesific dialog in the book that i find somehow true for now days.

the central character, Guy Montag, is a fireman.in the future, fireman are burning book.He then start questioning his life and work and the book goes thru his revelation.at the begining, his boss, Captain Beatty comes visit him after Guy call sick.Guy ask the captain if he knows whay they are called fireman and the captain explains him the reason.in this beutifull monolog from the captains (the answer) , i want to queute one sentenes that relevent to us all.

…Run the movie now forward, Montag.fast,click,view,look.Now,flick,here,how,who,what,where,hah?Bang!.Short short short. Politics?one line two sentences.Tilte.

This says it all.the author saw it comming bakc in the 50ties.he just didnt knew how we will do it.what i am talking about?

twitter,facebook,trackbacks,pings,stumble upon,digg it.….

All those “social networks” and the statues providers out there.they are just doing it,they are making us summarize all things into 140 words.with a title.google looks for the title for SEO.if this interesting, it on page 1.else, we burn it.your twiiter statues is to long.you burned.your facebook title is to long.you burned.publish on digg-it –only 140 chars.sorry no more.our database is to “small”.….

Everywhere you look at, the internet social networks become the firman.

and what is left: blogs where you can write more than 2 sentences and give forht your ideas .contiune reading books af any kind!not just “rich father poor father”  or “how to make million in 4 hours work”.read history, read literture.

just dont get burned in these social networks.!
