Fcked­i­tor

The fcked­i­tor is really good editor.That edi­tor comes from a mature project called http://ckeditor.com/.As a devel­oper i used that edi­tor also on non word­press like java web applications.the most sta­ble and mature word­press plu­gin for cked­i­tor is the “Dean’s FCKEd­i­tor for Word­Press plu­gin”.The list of fea­tures it has is quite nice and long.There are how­ever a major draw­back once should con­sider using it on wordpress.it escapes all “secu­rity risk” chars –i.e : the >,<,’,”,…

So, if you want to use a short code in your post that look like :[myshort­code id=“2”], that wont work.frustrating.So,to workaround it, you can deac­ti­vate it, add the short code, acti­vate the plu­gin again and than it will work.

Tinymce Advanced

The built-in edi­tor is based on tinymce.So, One effect was made that there are more word­press plu­g­ins that sup­port extend­ing it, than the fckeditor.

here are fout major plu­g­ins for the tinymce:

• Cus­tom TinyMCE Buttons
• TinyMCE Advanced
• Advanced TinyMCE Editor
• WP Super Edit

From  the four of them i would recom­maad the sec­ond one :TinyMCE Advanced.the rea­son is that i used it alot of times and i havnt found any faults that made me work hard like in fckeditor.one good but­ton is the “copy from word” but­ton, which removes all the stu­pid microsoft css code when you paste from word dcoument.

So, in a race the tinymce wins against the fckeditor.
