A green office politics mistake

A few years back in the office — a high technology startup –security, IDS.…, i was asked by one of the customer a major important feature in the software which was not included.
That feture is know to be a hard one to develop and requires additioanl task force which to company didn’t had in that time.
So, in ealry dicussion i got a direct anser from the PS group that that feature will not be included in the next 2 years.
OK.…i thought to my self . now what? in my stubborn thinking i knew and still think so that that feature is a must because it will bring more convinence to every body, and amazingly everybody think that also, but due to cash.….
so, one call to a major customer, asking him to send a request email to that feature, telling that if he will not have it he will lost his clients and this will affect our comany also.….
i was trying to use him as a leverge to operate my plan to promote the development of the feature.
funny what IT workers deals with right?
So, i got the mail i told him to write and i sent it to the R&D VC.
Now, that guy is a smart with behavoir of a donkey.he never talk with anyone ecxpert a two or three developers who worked with him in prevouse company, and he never answers mails.
The second fact i wansnt aware of althouth i should have detect it from the first fact.
i waited one month for an answer: you know, either yes yes, or no no.But nothing! like he is ignoring evertyhinh.
My sense’s didnt alerted me for what was comming.
i totaly forgot about it, and after few month i got a call from comany VC.
He asked me about the feature request.
“mmmm, i totally dont know.i sent it to your VC R&D but never got answer” i replied.
“WHAT?!!!!!!!” i got yell in my ear
There is someting i forgot to write: the VC R&D was 1 room next to me.
So, the bottom line was that i got the blame for not answering the mail.What i should have done was going directly and ask him face to face for the answer in that some day
somhow i knew he will not answer because he knows that a no answer will make him and the company looks bad.so he prefered letting me answer it knowing i am only pion in this game.if i answer, the customer know i answered accoring to the company agenda and he will contact directly the VC, Skipping the R&D VC.
Ohh, and he was a lawyer also.
so, that was roocky mistake which the outcome of my actions was written on the wall yet i closed my eyes, thinking that at confrontation time, i will be favoured.
How wrong i was.
