how to get ready for a job interview

The time has come (once again) and you starts to look for a new job.…as this step requires your skills as office survivor as you have to use your brain in order to “vanish” from work and in order to get the answers you want and most chances the interviewer don’t want to tell you.

This article deals mostly in the part of getting what you need to know, but I’ll put some effort on using some office politics to allow you goes to interviews while you are working.

The hardest things to do while you work is to mostly to answer phones, getting out of work, and off course knowing what we want to know about a potential place. In order to do so we have to use every techniques there is and to use our office politics’ head in order to survive in the office while doing all the above.

Answering the phone – it’s pretty hard to answer the phone the moment it rings as vacant jobs in the morning turned out to be by afternoon. Answering fast is the whole different between staying at your place and moving on, but how can it be done when during work times?

Pass the word around at your office that you are renting a room in your place, or looking for a new place and you have to take the call… this allows you to get out of the room and talk freely.

Going to the interview in the middle of the day — next step is to go to an interview, it can be done after or before working hours, but again as it’s known good places are taken in speed of light, so what can be done? Well, as you got know what is needed to survive and how to use the office politics you continue with your cover story….

Someone is coming to see the place” or “I have to go and see this vacant place” adding to those sentences “I’m planning to stay overtime tonight, so the work will be done, there is nothing to worry about”.

So what do we have till now, a reason to answer the phone and using that reason to get out of work in the middle of the day. Doing some work before the interview – Google, this is the magic word , try to look for articles, stock market reports , references , everything you can about the place you are going to be interview at.

Your pre work helps you to understand with whom you are dealing and sometimes even how much you can pressure them to get what you want. In case of private companies there is 0% you’ll find any information about even flow cash reports, and some information about their investment.

There are some chances you won’t find any information regarding the new office as it might be a new company but remember to look at the managers’ experience as it can show you what they are capable to do. Google can help you find information regarding people but you can use an extra tool called linkedin, as this will help you to know who is associate with the managers and what is their record.

Being interviewed — it’s interview time, remember to come dressed properly (not a wedding style but a clean and elegant wear) and also remember to ask questions, as most of the people who comes to an interview don’t know what to ask or not aware of the importance in asking questions.

Ask who are the managers and what is their experience as this will help you to determine with whom you are going to work and what they might expect from you, also don’t forget to ask about investments (in private companies) and for how much time they can work with the money from the investors. In case the company you are interview for is new try to see if there are any teams or are you going to establish one, also find out if there are customers or products that already exists.

Another thing you should ask is about the hierarchy of the companies and how do they plan to tutor you in case you’ll start working with them.

There are some more questions but they depends on the position you are being interviewed for and can be change from position to position , the above points meant to give you proper questions that you should ask in order to know what you are getting into.
