Office Politics-Wars Guide to the new Employee

Searching a new office to work at , is a hard job. You always know from where you are coming, but you never know where you are going to be just like a blind date. As a new comer-the new employee in the office playground,  you aren’t aware of the different  office-politics that exists and you don’t know yet which side to choose.

The day has come and you joined the office right before the big war starts. This war raged for some time  but it was hidden  under the surface, but and sooner or later the war will be visible to all,

because this scenario is very common, the articles will try to help the reader, if he will be in such situation in the future  how to act.

You have to keep in mind that you were hired by a “fallen” manager that hired you but was fired by other manager(S) in the company. In most cases your position in the company is secured and you don’t have to worry about it, but keep in mind the following things, just to know how to play the office politics correctly:

  • You have started to fill your position before the hired boss was fired – this is ok, as you joined the office right in the middle of an office reorganization war “by mistake”, in that case the winning side (higher management and other supervisors) will looks at you as a naive.

As long as you’ll give the winning side your loyalty and devotion, nothing harm will happen ;

Question: How should you show the guys in charge  that you are loyal them?Should you  storm into their  management office and pledge?

A:The new management doesn’t expect you to do it,  but they do expect you to show volunteering!

this  paradox state  we need to clarify :

how can the high directors of the company  trust the decisions that were made by a failed supervisor?

Here is then simple answer for that paradox;  when an office goes through reorganization, A fallen manager is replaced  not just by one employee but rather by a team; one manager can’t makes the change by himself., and he its hard to makes strategies moves like alone. He Will use the assistance of other employees from his networking in the office, to make the attack. if you ever be that manager, remember that these members of the revolution are waiting to be paid by you due to the fact they supported yet. the are no free meals.

as the time goes by and the new manager gains more power, it will be the trigger for a new office conflicts and a new reorganization will start. The above described scenario repeats itself over and over again until there will be wide hierarchy in the office management and from this point all the reorganization will be kept in the higher management only.

  • You have started to fill your position after the hired boss was fired. You are considered by others to be the last decision that has been made by a failed manager. There is no need to worry as the other managers has two perspective of examination in this case:
  1. Current managers respect previous decisions that were made
  2. As a newcomer you are automatically added to the new management team due to reorganization.

The only situation that you have to be aware of is the uncertainty by the management part – this mostly will be reflecting as delay in accepting new decisions. In case you are here; give the higher management some time to think about it before you’ll continue searching a new office.

As a new player in the office survivor game, no one will have a word against you by choosing to go with the higher management decision, as you are simply new and don’t have part in decisions that have been made– Remember this war wasn’t t yours.
