Office politics on Survivor 19 | Russell First Lesson-Samoa ep 1

Survivor Samoa-the 19 game in survivors TV show series presented one of the excellent player-Russell H. Russell started the game with a blast of actions-lies,multiple alliances and more lies.
because of this unique player we decided to write a couple of articles where we will describe his tactics –which he  learned from the daily life-and how to apply them on the office politics  game. several articles will describe the mistake the other players made when they dealt with Russell. from there mistake we can learn about Russell nature instead of focusing only on him.

So lets begin with episode one and the action’s Russell is doing. by the end of each action we will give out personal thinking whether its a cons/pros action.

  • Russell goes around the island telling lies to all people about his personal state and history. this action wont help you in the real life. office politics requires you to tell the truth about your personal life. you may not tell much, but don’t lie about it. here is a short  table of examples:
    • should i tell i am married lie to anybody
    • should i tell i am divorced-if you don’t have children-you can lie .if you do don’t lie.
    • should i tell having  a girlfriend if you want.
    • my own department or living at your parent home-lie if you want to your friends. don’t lie to financial/salary  department.
    • having some health care problems-personal or family-lie if you want to your friends. don’t lie to financial/salary  department
    • some died in the family lie to anybody
    • birthday date-lie if you want to your friends. don’t lie to financial/salary department
  • Russell start making multi alliances which he calls “his 4 dumb blonds alliance”. very smart move. must be done as many as you can. its called networking in action.
  • Russell begins to sabotage his own camp by emptying out the canteens of water and throwing Jaison’s socks in the fire. this kind of act is problematic. here is the differences:
    • making a customer or prospect angry by not showing up to a meeting do it.
    • hiding a computer mouse/cable  from the desk of another employee-allow
    • disconnect the phone cable of another employee desk early in the morning-allow

Remember not to get caught other wise you will look very stupid.

And the last act of this episode was his decision to vote Marisa off. poor Marisa never knew what was coming. he approached her earlier and tried to make the same stuff he did with the other girls, same talking about secret alliance. but Marisa is not blond. she will not play the same game as the others. Marisa seemed to be a person who speak what on his mind. so she said with polite gesture that his promises were told to everybody else  and openly admits to Russell that he makes her feel uncomfortable.

You see-she only said “uncomfortable”.

Russell is an old  veteran in office politics.

How do you come to me and threaten me and telling me that you feel uncomfortable.  Marisa is the dumbest player I’ve ever seen,” Russell snaps.  “You come up to me and threaten me, you gotta go, and she’s gone,” he decides.

Marisa didn’t tried to attack him . more like a clarification. but that was enough from Russell. As  a master of office survivors,he do what he know to do best.get the threat out!.

Our lesson for Marisa. don’t tell your friends in the office they make you feel “uncomfortable“don’t tell it ever to a man in the face. go behind his back, talk with others you trust. but never say this to a person FACE TO FACE. this will only make him feel offended and he will try to get back at you. simple “office politics” or we should we say… MANNERS!.
