Learning from failure

Learning from failure

Success always holds an element of luck and a little help of ungrudging– therefore it’s very easy to learn from them, while failure on the other hand means you have to learn from experience; requires to “reverse engineering ” of the politic scenario you and the other players were,to generate a value from it – this will give you a way of perspective, what is needed to be done in order to success the next time.

  1. Develop social skills - be pleasant to the people you are working with, not just ones you serve (i. e customers). You don’t have to love everyone who works with you, as some has disgusting behavior which you may disliked – in this case stay away from them but be polite and pleasant ‚when you ask them for things don’t forget to thank them for their help. Provide exemplary behavior and positive, practical and emotional.
  2. Avoid being aggressive as this is may be translated to a lack of professional and confidence – the sanctuary of the insecure. It isn’t pleasant to work with a person whom is aggressive as work can’t be done when one person pull it to his directions all the time.
  3. Emotional intelligence – arrival of a new employee, changes the other employees  status and it may  risk their future in the office. You have to navigate yourself socially and politically using your emotional intelligence, therefore you have to understand, assess and manage the emotions of other people by mapping their concern and allowing them to build their trust in the system again. You should not transmit people uncertainty as this raises the “future question” once again.
  4. Play Politics as clean as you can - Be honest and reliable, encourage others with their success, the help, the knowledge or offers   they gave you, do not try to take credit for someone else success – this will be reflected as antagonism and insecurity .
  5. Be large” – hold a large perception of your world and analyze solutions, don’t try to be petty or manage and control everyone, spread responsibilities among others and let them control and manage their time tables, trust the ones around you and act according to crises in the same manners you would want to be act in similar position. Have proactive attitude in your working environment and send a “message” to everyone that you are capable to think out of the box, believe in changes and in fixing wrong.  Make sure that the environment sees you do not produce problems, but busy providing solutions, institutionalize effective work processes, pleasant and flowing.
  6. Don’t fall into non professional  traps – yes, you are an experience pro nor a junior. First and most act “as a man “and behave appropriate to others. Don’t fall into professionalism traps that will make you lose your sensitivity and act as a “robot” without involvement and closeness to people. Share others with information regarding your personal life and status – what you have done over the weekend, where have you been travelling, what are your preferences, etc… acting in that way causes less stress and allows you to get closer to others.
  7. Morality – many organizations hold reliability tests as part of the employees absorption, their  tests examine employees perceptions about various situation’s (from small, as stealing pen from the office, to big, as stealing money). Act with morals – “if everyone behave like me, the company will be positive or negative”. If everyone acts aggressively and shout you have to change your ways.

Politics are all about resources allocation. There is only one manager and everyone staring at him because of class, financial rewards and power. The will to advance may cause daily conflicts. with the will to be faithful to you and express yourself at work. The environment requires us to run a complex manner and be professional as at the end of the day we came to work, produce, and contribute to increase profit — yet to initiate, motivate processes, motivate employees and maximize our individual capabilities.

The only way to succeed is to recognize the motivations driving you and to get rid of negative patterns and adopt positive properties.

Think of a good manager you had and try to understand why you enjoyed working with him. Implement your answer about yourself.

I will conclude with a speech from Nelson Mandela (1994)who quoted Marianne Williamson–(Return to Love)(1992)

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Read this  to empower yourself when you lose confidence, get into troubles or fail because you wasn’t’ real.
