btw - the article speaks about company's meeting, while scrum (those 15 minutes meetings) is a team/small group meeting.

Hi Dave,

you half way right, those 5 minutes standing meetings are actually 15 minutes "go around meeting" where each one tells everyone what he did yesterday, what he is doing today, and if he needs/can provide help to others... - this method is part of the scrum methodology - keep in mind that companies aren't always working in this methodology as it doesn't suit them all.

as someone that took part in scrum meeting it's good when you are 3-4 people , it's nice when you are 6-7 , it's not so good when you are 10-12 , and it's awful when there are 15+ participates.
I never was a fan of scrum when it comes to small companies where each one had his own niche, as times goes by each one turns professional in his own fields and doesn't need nor requires the other one help (also others who are in their niche can't really help).

I agree with your article. company meetings usaully are a complete waste of time. Here in the United States, those fourth quarter company meeting usually go something like this: We have to increase revenue or decrease expenses. This puts the fear of God into whole company. Everyone knows what decreasing expenses means (i.e., layoffs). So, panic usaully ensues. This causes a complete disruption of the ultimate goals of the company.

Very good article.in my opinion, company meetings have their value as long as you keep focusing on the reason. other wise, its just waste of time.
