Hi Kate,

this is interesting point of view but as you know we pick our friends by finding out mutual interests. the working environment provide most of us a big mutual interest - work, i think that if there are at least 3 mutual interests besides work there is no reason why not to hang out after working hour.

if involving personal life with profession life means trying to have some sort of relation with someone at the office than again ,the rule above still holds, but at this case you have to remember to pay attention that there isn't conflicts due to 2 different positions that might have collision; example: a secretary and her direct boss, as a little fight and god knows what's going to be with the secretary...

Hi Lee,

the situation with women is unique as it doesn't really matter if it's at home, the supermarket, at the office or what so ever ... women will (for some reason) tries to show superiority. as females for some reason will always try to stub each other in the back or to show the others who's the best.

also when women are friends in the office everything is ok and fine until one of them is being promoted - this is the time when the friendship is thrown out of the window.

Even if you find nice interesting new friends at work – try to spend with them as much as you can at work... BUT.... as less as you can out of the office!
Involving personal life with professional life brings more troubles than help....

There is an advice for men.... but nothing for women.
So, If you are a female – Never, but never.... choose your ”best friend“ to be a female as well!!! Even if you think you found your new soul mate(99% it simply does not work)
